The homestead has been carefully crafted for adventurous spirits seeking comfort and inspiration during their stay in the desert.
Big Bend Homestead
Tucked into the Chihuahuan desert, Big Bend Homestead rests among the ocotillo and creosote. A warm two room homestead with outstanding views awaits you. BBH boasts a large screened-in porch, full kitchen, cozy living room with a handcrafted couch that doubles as additional sleeping quarters for one adult or two children, and a large bedroom with queen bed and artists desk.
Our kitchen features a full size refrigerator, gas range, full sink operating off rainwater catchment, butcher block countertops and small dining area. Enjoy cutting boards from Material, Haden coffee maker and toaster, and handmade ceramic dishes.
Get cozy on our large screened in porch with comfortable seating for morning coffee and a full dining space for shared meals. BBH is full of artful and eclectic decor. Gaze at art from local artists Bruce Lee Webb, George Zupp and Patrick Thrash. While there is no tv, there are books, records and views aplenty. Immerse yourself in nature while still having the comforts of home.
The Land
Featuring 40 private acres only 6 miles from the entrance to Big Bend National Park, the homestead is the perfect home base for your adventures through Big Bend. Not itching for a grand adventure? Hike a hundred feet up to your private ocotillo mesa and experience 360 degree views of Willow Mountain, Wild Horse Mountain, Bee Mountain and into the mountains of Mexico. A private hiking loop will take you on a short jaunt back to the homestead.
The Bath House
The eco-friendly bath house lies a few steps from the bedroom. Enjoy a warm shower thanks to bountiful summer monsoons, as we operate off rainwater catchment. All grey water will return to the earth, nourishing our native landscaping.
